SeaDoo Ignition Stick Coil upgrade

Updated: Apr 30, 2022

Sea-Doo Ignition coils used on the 2002-2015 1503cc 4 STROKE engines (RXP, RXT, GTX, GTI, GTR) have a hard life, providing a high performance engine a spark at the crucial moment. All this while operating in a harsh environment with moisture and a range of operating temperatures. Situated on top of the engine they are constantly being tested against water intrusion from above.

We used to sell the cheap non genuine coils like in the picture however time proved they were not up to scratch to rely on at sea. We now only supply the genuine coil kits which are reliable along with now offering a 2016 onward coil kit upgrade. This uses the new style coil with a better sealing system and secured with a bolt into the rocker cover.

Here are some tips when installing new coils we supply or just removing your coils to inspect spark plugs.

* Always ensure the spark plug tube is free of liquid being in the form of water or in other cases oil which has leaked past the tube seals, this will ensue the coil does not break down during use.

*Ensure the rubber seals are in good condition, they should be a tight fit around the coil and complete with no tears or splits.

*Use the correct sealing lubricant when installing, this should be a silicone based product such as Dow Corning 111 compound and NOT grease, this will make the seal swell and cause water ingress.

*The engine should have a cover fitted over the top of the coils, over the years of ownership its not uncommon for these to become separated from the machine, they are relatively inexpensive and provide the coil with vital protection from water intrusion above.

Simple preventive maintenance efforts can go a long way in ensuring trouble free time on the water so be sure to follow the above steps.
